What this site records, what it does not, and how to write to the desk about it.

Service page · Edition of

This site is a set of static pages. It sets no account, takes no order and asks for no personal information to be read.

What is recorded

The site is served by a hosting provider that keeps standard technical logs, including the address a request came from, the page requested and the date. Those logs are used to keep the site running and to see which entries are read. This journal does not run an advertising tracker and does not build a profile of a reader.

Cookies

The pages themselves set no cookie. A preference you choose in your own browser, such as a text size or a colour scheme setting, stays in your browser and is not sent to the desk.

Writing to the desk

If you send a message to [email protected], the desk keeps it for as long as it takes to answer, and keeps a correction and its source for as long as the entry it corrects is published. You can write to that address to ask what is held about your message, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted.

Links

An entry sometimes links to a source kept elsewhere, on a publisher, museum, mill or school site. Those sites have their own rules, which this journal does not control.
