The Wet Edge publishes entries that answer one question about watercolour practice. This page states the rules the desk applies to every entry, and the limits it accepts.
Sources
An entry is written from sources that can be checked against a fixed text: published standards, manufacturer literature on pigments, paper and brushes, conservation guidance on light, mounting and storage, museum catalogues, and the technical notes published by mills and pigment makers. A forum post, a video or a shop listing is never the only source for a factual claim.
Dating and revision
Every entry carries the date on which it was last checked against its sources. When a standard, a paper specification or a conservation recommendation changes, the entry is revised and the date moves. A revised entry is not silently rewritten: the sentence changes and the date says when.
Corrections
A correction is accepted on the strength of a named source, as described on the contact page. A corrected entry is republished with a new date. The desk does not delete an entry to hide an error; it corrects the sentence or withdraws the entry with a note.
Independence
It takes no commission, no sponsorship, no advertising and no free material from a manufacturer in exchange for a mention. A brand named in an entry is named because a source names it, and is described in the third person.
